McWhirters Building

FHS Build is leading the remediation and refurbishment of the iconic McWhirters Building, to ensure its long-term functionality and structural integrity.

Stage 1, which was recently completed, involved extensive restoration work, including plant deck restoration, stormwater system upgrades, structural fall improvements, and the installation of UV stable waterproof membranes. Other upgrades included the replacement of the metal roof, enhancing service penetrations, upgrading box gutters, and addressing stormwater systems. We also conducted water testing on balconies, covered exposed electrical cable trays, and replaced electrical cables throughout the building.

Stage 2 has now commenced, and FHS Build is overseeing the project from design through to delivery. This phase involves a large-scale waterproofing project, which includes retiling approximately 2,000m² of terraces. Additionally, 40 units will be refurbished due to water damage, and various building services are being upgraded to improve overall functionality and livability.

With Stage 1 successfully completed and Stage 2 underway, the project will restore the McWhirters Building to its full potential, ensuring long-term durability and modernised facilities for its residents and tenants.
